1997 Custom Chevy S-10 Blazer - Diet Fuego

Custom trucks often start out their lives as work trucks, farm haulers, and even as mom's soccer van. John Castle of Amory, Mississippi, picked up his S-10 Blazer from his employer, Pepsi, after retiring it from fleet delivery duty. What happens to a soft drink delivery truck after years of faithful service? You cut it up, of course. In John's case, he cut it up and then added a paint scheme that burns the retinas and tricks the mind. Arriving at shows in the Southeast, John airs the Blazer out and then pops the top on the SUV Mini Wild class.

Getting rid of the factory utility suspension, the crew at Kennedy Customs in Amory, Mississippi, added Belltech 2-inch drop spindles, and added Firestone 'bags to the front with a C-notch and 'bags out back. Hovering over the stock 15-inch steel wheels was never an option, and John added a set of 18-inch chrome Panther Origin wheels wrapped in Kumho rubber to finish off the mini-truck look.

Nice and low, John's S-10 Blazer didn't inspire much excitement with the stock Pepsi white paint. In his mind, John envisioned crazy flames, graphics, and bright colors, but the abused body needed some love before any hue could be applied. Enter Silver Star Customs of Hornlake, Mississippi, who shaved the door handles, eliminated the taillights, shaved the antenna, and moved the gas filler inside the driver fenderwell. Making the biggest splash on the list of body mods is the addition of the GMC Envoy bumper, grille, and headlights, providing a freshened leading-edge appearance to the '97 Blazer.

With Silver Star's bodywork finished, Randy Campbell and Patrick Powell filled their paint guns with House of Kolor Tangelo Pearl and Passion Purple and went bonkers with flame after flame and airbrushed skulls everywhere. When John wasn't applying the extra layer of tribals himself, Randy and Patrick were adding bubbles to the paint, allowing the skulls to have a place of release. No panel went untouched, as the paint and body on this truck are truly exceptional.

Inside the cabin, Dereck and Jeb of Audio Addiction in Corinth, Mississippi, added MA Audio amps to push the three 10-inch MA Audio subs in the sealed enclosure. A JVC head unit sends the signals to a Memphis Audio equalizer that straightens things out before blasting from the MA Audio separates. Two 7-inch visors in the headrests and two 7-inch monitors in the visors provide entertainment from the JVC DVD-player. Covered in gray tweed with orange vinyl, the Seller's Upholstery interior matches the custom theme. A BAD billet wheel adds good looks to the painted dash pieces and other billet accessories. Under the hood more paint, billet, and color-matching wire loom can be found. No longer delivering sodas to vendors, this S-10 Blazer is now delivering smiles for all who ride in it, and after three years, John has a fully custom show truck on his hands.
