Hey Truckin,
I have been reading your magazine for so long now, I can't even remember when I started. I have noticed over the years that you guys have done plenty of stories covering how to set up your truck for towing, and in more current issues I have seen a large black fifth-wheel trailer you take around the country. My dilemma is that I just bought a brand-new Ford F-250 crew cab 4x4, because the new 6.7L Power Stroke rocks! I really want to lift the truck, but only 3 or 4 inches and am worried about how to still tow my fifth-wheel toy hauler. How much can I lift my truck and still tow my trailer without a problem?
Ray Hickle

Ray,
Your new purchase should provide you with years of fun and faithful service. We love that new Ford diesel too! As for your dilemma, one thing you forgot to factor in was the added height of your tires. Adding the 3- or 4-inch suspension lift will be augmented another inch or so with the change in overall tire diameter. Measure your trailer's hitch in the highest pin position it has with the trailer level. Transfer that number over to your truck's hitch and see what the difference is. That will be your total allowable amount of change. Our recommendation is to add a 2-inch level lift to your truck with a set of 33-inch tires and enjoy your truck's fresh new look and ability to tow without worry.

Hello Guys,
After thinking I was crazy, I went back through the last couple years of Truckin to check out the features and tech. It looks like the lifted trucks are taking up about equal real estate in the magazine compared to lower custom trucks. I do like clean lifted trucks, too; so don't take this as a question of your magazine's integrity. If you have a minute, could you please let me and the rest of the readers know how things are progressing over there?
Adam Cook

Adam,
You have a good eye for details. In our thousands of miles of travel, we have found that well-dressed lifted trucks are taking up about equal space at the shows with the lowered and airbagged trucks we normally see. Being that we are touted as the
World's Leading Truck Publication, we take our job seriously and try to report on things as they are. According to our reader surveys and sales figures, the lifted trucks are holding their own against their opposites. As the market adjusts, so must we to stay ahead of the curve and keep our place as the source for your truck information.
