Whether you are a die-hard subscriber of Truckin magazine or buy it occasionally at the grocery store, I can guarantee this month’s cover threw you for a loop. A giant, lifted ¾-ton Ram 2500 with a fully gold-plated suspension with custom engraving is not something you see every day—especially not in Truckin. You would expect this thing to be in the pages of Lowrider. But after walking around it at last year’s SEMA show, we thought, What better way to shake up the truck world than by showing this off?
The owner, Tim Nicolau Designs, in Ceres, California, definitely had a lot of haters talk smack about the truck. But it’s like anything else in the custom vehicle scene: When something first emerges, there are a lot of nonbelievers, but over time the fad slowly becomes the norm. We will see in a few years if this trend takes off or dwindles like the last red ember in a summer bonfire. Another truck with Lowrider-inspired designs was an 2007 to 2013 Silverado at LST with engraved wheels. Again, there were some haters, but there were some people who loved it. Check out the TND truck on page 72 and the Silverado from LST on page 130 and tell us what you think. Send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org.
