The Audiobahn Spring Break Jam - South Padre Heat Wave

The Audiobahn Spring Break Jam (put on by Heat Wave) is one of those shows that you've got to make it to. The city is on fire with spring-breakers, and the showgrounds at the South Padre Island Convention Center are ablaze with hot custom cars and trucks. We loaded up our camera gear and headed out for the show with stories in our heads about wild trucks and wild times. We weren't disappointed. Although the show is built for any kind of custom car or truck, there were plenty of the types of haulers we like to see.

With 85 show classes and $500 on the line for "Best of Show," the participants were lined up outside the Convention Center early. Besides the show and shine, Heat Wave put on a bikini contest and a USACI car audio event. There were also two parties over the weekend that probably shouldn't be discussed in a family magazine, if you get our drift. (Let's just say that $1,500 to win a wet t-shirt contest leads to some real fun.)

If you're within a few hours' driving distance from the show, you've got no excuse for not being there next year. We'd say even a five-hour drive would be worth it.
