Leading up to this year's performance truck shootout, we heard social media rumors that one of the fastest street trucks in Southern California would be competing. Rumors and social media chatter don't shave valuable seconds off your e.t.'s and to be honest, we were a little skeptical of all the talking. Putting our skepticism to bed, Chris Payan blasted his second quarter-mile pass to the tune of 10.22 at 132 mph. Now keep in mind the driving surface is an old, abused runway that is covered in light sand. Point is, this red Chevy is mind-numbingly fast. More than just quick in a straight line, Chris piloted his Cheyenne to a First Place finish in the road course, Second Place finish in the speed stop, and Second Place in the slalom. An all-around performer, he told us the truck is still a work in progress and he wants to go even faster. As it sits now, the truck is a handful, but Chris held on long enough to take home the coveted trophy of 2013 THROWDOWN champion.
