On Friday, December 28, 2001, vendors and custom show-truck owners began setting up for the 26th year of one of the most legendary automotive events to ever occur in Southern California.
Resolutions 2002, sponsored by Line-X Spray-on Truck Bedliners and hosted by The Sunset So Cal Truck Club, kicked off this year in style at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, California, where thousands of frame and body-grinding truck fanatics cruised and showed their rides throughout the weekend.
Early Friday evening, the line of exceptional show vehicles began to form at the registration tent where the Sunset So Cal staff worked steadily to toss event stickers on windshields, collect vehicle and driver information, and get everyone registered for Saturday's show-'n'-shine activities. The festivities on Friday evening included plenty of fun around various clubs' campfires with a bit of frosty soda pop consumption, tunes cranking out from the live DJ, and plenty of cruising.
Resolutions has always been known for cruising, and enthusiasts railed their rides both Friday and Saturday evening while hitting switches to see who had the fastest air suspension. IHOP Air Development was shocking folks with its super-quick-on-the-switches Expedition, which hopped completely off the ground. Out of the 1,068 show vehicles and 3,000 people that rolled through the gates for this year's Resolutions, most made their way to the early morning show 'n' shine on Saturday morning.
This year's show was simply dynamite, with fullsize and mini-haulers at all levels of completion and detail. The competition was extremely stiff; participants spent the better part of the day cleaning and polishing their rides for the judges' keen eyes. Similar to past Resolutions shows, the rain made showing and displaying difficult, but the die-hard truck guys and gals were out in full force, despite the weather.
If you needed a break from cleaning your ride or walking the countless rows of shining show trucks and compacts, then the resident carne asada steak and chicken taco stand was the place to go to get a quick bite to eat and warm up.
Several vendors were in attendance, offering everything from billet wheels to spray-on bedliners and adjustable suspension components. After the show competition ended Saturday afternoon and the judges had tallied up their scores, enthusiasts tore down their displays and headed back to their respective clubs' campsite where the real fun began.
Saturday night was filled with tunes cranking out from the DJ Wars competition, more frame and body-dragging cruising, and a ton of rapping around club campfires. The DJ Wars competition was a contest held by Sunset So Cal to see what club can produce the best sound quality and DJ skills. A few representatives from Sunset cruised to the various clubs' campsites to judge this competition.
After the festivities of Saturday night wound down, Sunday came, and so did the the elaborate awards ceremony where attractive trophies were awarded to deserving show vehicle owners in their respective classes.
Making this year's Resolutions possible was a healthy sponsorship from Line-X Spray-On truck Bedliners. Sponsorship contributions from Colorado Custom Wheels, Fender Bender International, Drop Down Customs, Auto Indulgence, SporTruck Specialties, Fleet Graphix, KRZ customs, Musso Motorsports, and Mike's Tint shop also made Resolutions 2002 a smash-hit success. Perhaps one of the most talked... Perhaps one of the most talked about fullsize trucks was this late-model, Caddy clipped and flamed Chevy standard cab. It was real nice in person, too. |
Talk about tough to get into.... Talk about tough to get into. This Chevy was sky-high, but it sure looked cool |
This sherbert-orange Mazda... This sherbert-orange Mazda was probably the most detailed truck at the show, with powdercoating and polishing under the hood and on the chassis and the suspension. Look for this truck on the cover of our sister publication Mini Truckin' in the near future. |

Our friend Jeff Zander from... Our friend Jeff Zander from KRZ Customs in Fresno, California, brought his usual collection of show rides, but they never seem to get old. This extra-cab, longbed Mitsubishi was as sick as they come. |
Joe Musso and Adam Madrigal... Joe Musso and Adam Madrigal of Musso Motorsports brought this 'bagged, body-dropped, fully shaved, and suicide-door-equipped Toyota Tacoma down from Las Vegas for this year's Reso. Believe it or not, three weeks prior to the event, this truck was bone stock with dealer plates. Wow. |
Line-X Spray-On Truck Bedliners,... Line-X Spray-On Truck Bedliners, a major sponsor of the event, was on hand all weekend to answer any spray-on bedliner inquiries. The company's huge trailer rig, embossed with the Line-X logo, is pretty hard to miss, and they even had a few show trucks on hand, drawing people to the booth. |
