Braving the heat-stricken city of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in late June, was a task we jumped at, because we knew the Mini Truck Nationals were going on at Shular Inn. Normally, we enjoy the confines of our plush, air-conditioned offices in Southern California, but for the opportunity of tracking down killer minis in the middle of summer, we jumped on the plane and got our cameras ready. Pulling up at the show, we were surprised with the number of trucks participating in this year's event.
With a plethora of S-dimes readily available, the other manufacturers represented were few and far between. Now we understand the S-10's dominance in the field of mini-truckin', but we still couldn't believe the lack of other models representing the other major players in the truck arena. After two days of looking at great trucks, it was back to SoCal to try and figure out why the small number of trucks were present. We figured it out after visiting the Texas Heat Wave show in July and realized everyone was staying at home waiting for one of the biggest summer shows. We're still looking forward to next year's Mini Truck Nationals, only this time with even bigger expectations.
