Being the hotbed of custom truck and car creations, Southern California is home to shows and events literally every weekend of the summer. Until recently, however, there has not been one show catering to all types of trucks and cars. Enter the California Classic. Providing a spectacular automotive setting, the inaugural Cali Classic was held at the California Speedway in Fontana. The unique show allowed participants to enter their show cars and trucks into the racing confines with rides ranging from street rods to minis, and even to sport compact cars. Spectators and participants alike were exposed to dozens of vendors selling and showcasing the latest and greatest products available from each respective manufacturer.
Trucks present at the show represented the crowds of switches, body drops, lifts with custom undercarriages, and the ever-growing classic truck crowd. A special perk for truck owners and show participants was the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive on the actual track, a feature most shows do not offer. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of beautiful examples of show trucks and daily drivers supporting the first-year event. Taking a glimpse into the future, next year is sure to be bigger and better, with even more majestic examples of custom trucks.
