Racers enjoyed the entire weekend, as the Firebird drag strip was open both days for trucks of all speeds and classes. Dominated this year by Dakota R/Ts, the quickest street truck we saw ran mid-11s on slicks and passed the traps with a speed of more than 120 mph. If racing in straight line didn't tickle your fancy, the tough truck competition surely provided an extra treat for the showgoers. Climbing over steep inclines, log stacks, and rocks, the 4x4 trucks proved to everyone that they meant business.
Wrapping up the weekend was the bikini contest and awards ceremony. After the stage was filled with beautiful young ladies, the winner was crowned, and congratulations go out to Melony LaRose for winning Miss Truckin' Nats 2003. Awards were presented shortly after the bikini contest, and the deserving truck owners went home with a trophy and the respect of the entire Truckin' staff.
This year's event would not have been the huge success it was without some very special people, and we here at Truckin' would like to thank some of them for the support: AEM, AIM, APC, Bonspeed, Dealers Sport Truck, Fabtech, Gibson, J.C. Whitney, Line-X, MagnaCharger, Meguiar's, Nitto Tire, RCD, Sport Truck Direct, Van Demon Designs, and Vortec Engines.
Bob The Firestone FirehawkFunny how when you have an instantly recognizable Fire chicken strapped to the back off your golf cart, you feel like a celebrity. Not because people are waving at us, no they weren't. But, with Bob the Firehawk on the back of our golf cart, we experienced hundreds of thumbs-up, photo ops, and of course, model signings. To Bob, we say thanks, for two days out of the year we too wanted to wear a chicken mascot suit and almost be famous.
