This clean, 22-tucking '72 Chevy Blazer belongs to Kevin Hernandez from Fresno, California.
The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has become known as the Ringling Brothers of the traveling custom car and truck shows. Everybody knows that when the big yellow Goodguys tractor-trailer rig pulls into town, they're in for a hot-rod weekend.
The beautiful Alameda Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California, nestled in the picturesque Amador Valley, once again hosted this year's 22nd All-American Get-Together, attracting thousands of wild, custom, and domestic cars and trucks from all over the Western states. The fairground turnstiles were spinning on the rev limiter all weekend, recording yet another record attendance of both spectators and participants. This particular early spring Goodguys show lifted its pre-'72 vehicle restriction and allowed newer custom vehicles to participate.
This year's Goodguys All-American Get-Together was hindered with overcast skies and a slight drizzle on Saturday, but it didn't dampen the spirits or the mood of the showgoers. A sea of early and late-model custom cars and trucks overflowed the entire fairground. Besides the outrageous outdoor show 'n' shine, there was also the '04 Custom d'Elegance indoor show. Spectators and participants also strolled the huge vendors' village and sifted through endless treasures at the swap meet, exchanged Franklins for a pink slip in the For Sale corral, and parents and kids participated in the Revelle/Monogram Little Hands 'n' Little Rods program, where kids built their own plastic model hot rod from scratch then took their proud creations home.
On Sunday, the show was blessed with beautiful clear sunny skies, which were ideal for cruising the show and listening to the rock 'n' roll sounds of The Fabulous Cruise Tones. Early Sunday morning, the winning vehicles were rolled onto the huge prestigious winner's green for all to admire. Later that afternoon, the category winners were recognized during the traditional Goodguys drive-through awards ceremony, showcasing the winner's individually. As they were announced, the winners cruised up in their prevailing ride to receive their trophy.
During the Goodguys events we handpick the best of the best to be featured in Truckin' magazine. These flawless completed customs are the icons of the show, holding nothing back when it comes to their overall appearance, exterior body mods, paint, suspension, engine, interior, and audio/video treatment. The beautiful natural settings surrounding Pleasanton make for ideal custom-truck feature-photo locations. This year was no exception, so we positioned some beautiful trucks in the camera's viewfinder and clicked off several pristine Truckin' features.
The next time the Goodguys' big yellow rig pulls up in your town, get ready to let the good times roll.
