What? Here is a Studebaker on an S-10 chassis.
When show promoters put on a show, they never know how it will turn out. Will it be the beginning of a tradition or a disaster in the making? These are problems that Charlie Cobble and his crew don't even think about twice. They successfully completed their 11th annual Slammin' & Jammin' show in Lebanon, Tennessee, presented by Falken Tires with a crowd that dwarfed previous years. This show is one of the few that pulls not only people from Tennessee, but some from the Midwest and even as far as Florida. It has become one of the must-attend shows in the area due to the location, crowd, and all out fun that can be had.
This year there were about 1,500 entries with 62 venders to supply last-minute parts for the competitors. There were well over 14,000 spectators roaming through the vendor section, show field, and hanging out to watch the various contests. The show had everything from a bikini contest to a hopping contest, to an after-dark neon contest. This year, an airbag contest and a dragging contest were added to give the spectators and competitors something to keep them busy. Camping is also one of the big draws to this show, as it is one of the few shows left that will allow you to camp right at the show field.
While the judges were busy giving out points, the guys from Falken Tire were out checking all the high-end customs for the Falken Tire Ultimate Ten. All 10 of these rides received a special award and were allowed to park up front for the entire show. There were also two different Top Truck awards given out to trailered and driven trucks. Stacy Lee took home the Best of Show Truck - Driven award while Donnie and Lynda Rogers took home the Best of Show Truck - Trailered award. Plans for next year's show are already in the works, and if you would like more information on it, go to www.autoshows.cc, e-mail Charlie Cobble at charlie@autoshows.cc, or give him a call at (423) 623-4644.
