Truck shows are a vital part of the custom truck scene. They provide an opportunity for hard-core custom truck enthusiasts to get together and show off their rides while building friendships. Bonding over 'bagged and body-dropped rides while scrubbing on billet wheels and polishing paint is what keeps the custom truck scene growing. Some shows have achieved legendary status within the scene as the shows to attend. One of these shows is Resolutions. Commonly referred to as Reso, this event has been going strong for nearly 30 years. Show promoter Bob Hase swore a few years back that the party was over because locations for the event were getting harder and harder to find. But the event's popularity within the SCMTC (Southern California Mini Truck Council) forced Bob to go back to the drawing board. Reso is held every year on New Year's Weekend, and many enthusiasts have made it a tradition to ring in the New Year at Reso. All you have to do is ask any enthusiast who has been, and chances are they will have more than a few stories to tell.

This year, the show was held from December 31 through January 2, and Mr. Hase solved the location problem with the large and well-maintained facility of Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe, California. The fairground's grassy show area, situated on the infield of an oval racecourse, made a nice platform for all the frame- and body-dragging show trucks.

Friday evening, the party kicked into gear with Chris Clark from Power Source spinning records for the enthusiastic crowd. Some people proceeded to cut a rug all night in front of the main stage, while others chugged down adult soda pops at their campsites and told custom truck stories around the fire. KRZ Customs even brought out a working Jacuzzi on a car trailer for people to sit and party in.

Saturday morning came early for most enthusiasts as they pulled themselves out of their tents or motor homes, hopped into their custom rides, and got in line for roll-in. The Sunset staff stood by to appropriately class all the trucks for judging and instruct people where to park. After everyone was situated, the show was on and participants polished their rides for the judges. The rest of the day, showgoers roamed the aisles admiring all the slammed and smoothed rolling artwork and taking in all the new gear over at vendors row. Saturday afternoon, as the sun dipped, show trucks were rolled out of the show and the party was back on. With the stress of cleaning and the judging process behind them, enthusiasts could kick back, have a few cold ones, and party into the night.

The sun rose Sunday morning and enthusiasts began to pack up their camps in preparation for the awards ceremony. Trophies were presented to deserving winners in a variety of classes, and once the presentation was over, enthusiasts hit the road and headed for home. This year's Reso was a fun-packed event featuring amazing custom trucks and one wild party.
