Without show participants, there wouldn't be a show, and just as important as the show participants is the venue itself. The first event of the season for the Truckin' staff was the Temecula Rod Run, held in picturesque Temecula, California during early March. This small old town of Western heritage is nestled up against the Santa Ana Mountains in the Temecula Valley. In 1858, Temecula became a stop on the Butterfield Overland Stage route. The town was established the following year in 1859. It has become a land of paradise with some 24 award-winning wineries spread over 3,000 acres throughout the valley. Temecula's old town features historic, Wild West buildings and more than 640 antique dealers. Temecula also offers 12 championship golf courses and plenty of colorful hot air balloons for skyward adventures. When the sun goes down, the lights come on, and the nightlife begins with dining and dancing.
This year's 18th annual Temecula, The Good Old Days Car Show was hosted by the Central Coast Car Club from Pismo Beach, California. More than 850 custom, rod, musclecar, and truck enthusiasts invaded Temecula's Front Street, which is closed down both days, allowing a sea of 60,000 spectators to stroll up and down the street, admiring the colorful, rolling masterpieces.
The following pages will give you a taste of this year's pre-spring custom rod and truck weekend.
