 Cheetah Boats Regatta Boats
More than 65 boats took part in this exciting event. Some of the fun comes in the way of the giant group photo.

For just the second year in a row, Lake Havasu City, Arizona-boat builder Cheetah Boats held its family-oriented regatta in conjunction with Jokers Wild Promotions. Weather conditions were perfect for loved ones to gather around the water and simply hang out or for buddies to head for a favorite watering spot and go for bragging rights over who has the fastest boat on the water.

Cheetah Boats has been in business since 1963 and was one of the first boat-building companies to head out east from Los Angeles, eventually landing in Havasu. The company has built its name and reputation around good, clean family fun at affordable prices. Most of its customers have preconceived notions of its boat building and buying experience, so the company decided last year to hold its first regatta as a way to say thanks to all its customers for their continued support over the years. As a result of last year's successful event, this second show was even better than the last one. More than 65 boats showed up to offer support to the crews of Cheetah Boats and Jokers Wild Promotions.

The two-day event began with a Jokers Wild-sponsored cocktail party at the Kokomo nightclub, located under the famous London Bridge. More than 400 people came out in 100-degree heat to pick up their registration packs, event T-shirts, and to take part in the live Hot Wheels drag race action-which was more fun for the adults who paired off against their buddies than for the kids it was intended for in the first place. Saturday morning saw all the Cheetah Boats participants head out to Rotary Beach for some meetings and instructions on where each of the five stops for the poker run would be and on the general rules of the lake. Once the formalities were out of the way, all the Cheetah Boats owners headed out to a local cove and tied up in anticipation of the enormous group photo.

To finish off the great day, all participants were invited back to Rotary Beach for a barbecue where nearly $2,500 in prizes and gifts were raffled off. Everyone agreed that next year's event with Cheetah Boats and Jokers Wild Promotions will be even more successful than this one.
