Custom truck events feature a mix of hot rides and cool people. Nowhere else than at a custom truck gathering can so many enthusiasts come together to enjoy the hobby of customized rides while engaging in a little enthusiast conversation.
The Goodguys R od & Custom Association is an organization known for hosting top-notch custom hot-rod events, and over the years more and more trucks have joined the party. On the weekend of July 8-10, the Goodguys hosted the 8th annual PPG Nationals at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio, and Truckin' was there to bring you all the paint-gleaming, rim-tucking, and camshaft-rumbling action.
In addition to the swap meet area, several vendors were on hand peddling their latest custom offerings to spice up your truck's performance and style. Sunday rolled around and enthusiasts enjoyed viewing more show trucks until the awards presentation took place in the afternoon. Participants and spectators got comfortable for the awards presentation and jaws dropped as each vehicle and its owners rolled up to receive their honors. The Goodguys 8th Annual PPG Nationals was a homerun event with quality-built custom trucks and hot rods as far as the eye could see. Saturday kicked off with an opportunity to have breakfast with famous custom car builder George Barris, who was on hand to sign autographs and answer questions. That day, enthusiasts roamed the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center checking out some of the hottest custom trucks and hot rods currently turning heads on the show scene. Several rides were looking for new homes, and with hot rod seminars from various companies being held throughout the day, enthusiasts could go home with a new toy and more than a few ideas to make it their own. A parts swap meet kept some spectators digging for rare parts on their build checklists while the wives enjoyed the Goodgals gallery full of arts and crafts.
