Starting three years ago in the well-known city of Gulfport, Mississippi, this fast-growing show, Scrapin' the Coast, has since moved to a bigger and better venue at the Biloxi Beachfront Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi. Each year the event has significantly increased participants and spectators and has brought in some of the most impressive custom trucks from all over the country.
Entertainment for the weekend started almost immediately with a local radio station hosting a great concert of major-label bands, like Seether and Crossfade, at the coliseum grounds Friday night. This proved to be a pretty cool setup as people who were bringing their trucks to the show prepared for the events of the next two days and were treated to a free concert. With a ton of vendors present for the event selling everything from drinks and food to wheels and shirts, there were plenty of parts to buy as well as things to do. The promoters were even selling tickets to win a tricked out S-10. How often do you see that?
The STC crew, working with a local drag strip, even had events set up for Saturday night, including a chance to run your truck down the track to see what kind of times you could turn in the 1/4-mile. Although there were some impressive times run that night, nothing impressed anyone more than the bikini contest that was held later that evening. Sunday's weather proved to be just as clear as Saturday's, which sure helped to close out a great weekend in style. Check out all the info at www.scrapinthecoast.com
