You just don't see that many cool '67-'72 Suburbans, but this one is amazing.
There's nothing better than Arizona in May. Temperatures around 80 degrees, a slightly overcast day, and a great location made Sub Zero's first annual car/truck/bike show a huge success. The spot to be was the parking lot of Peoria Sports Complex, in Peoria, Arizona, just off the 101 and Bell Rd. A few hundred of the faithful showed up with classics, custom bikes, and of course, a ton of killer trucks to support the Peoria Firefighter Charities.
This wasn't how it was supposed to work, though. Originally the show was planned for February 12th, but the Valley of the Sun was drenched in rain that weekend, so the show was postponed with no firm answer on when it would be put on. After lots of planning, the word was out that the show would be in May, and over 150 people showed up for that event, driving from as far out as California to make the roll-in.
A lot of custom shows drop the ball when it comes to peripheral attractions, but that wasn't the case here. There was a full barbeque grill setup cooking dogs and burgers for everyone who wanted them, and a ton of vendor booths to show off their wares. They even brought out a vintage fire truck for everyone to check out.
As the day wore on, around 2,000 people walked through the gates to check out the show, and $4,400 was raised for Peoria Firefighter Charities. Think this is the last we'll here of Sub-Zero? Think again. Next year's show is already being planned, with live bands and BMX riders all in the works.
