Custom truck enthusiasts love to participate in shows of all sizes. Shows that are for a cause tend to bring the good out in people. The sixth annual Cruise For A Cure was a special gathering at the spacious Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California, where over 3,500 custom cars and trucks gathered from all over California, Arizona, and Nevada, and thousands of spectators enjoyed the blast from the past with its own colorful sights and sounds. The show's main objective was focused on saving lives. Raffles gave those who entered a chance to win an assortment of prizes, with all the proceeds supporting prostate cancer research at the Jonnson Cancer Research Center at UCLA. Free health screening, including free PSA tests, were offered for all gentleman in attendance. This one-day event draws cool customs, hot rods, muscle cars, rat rods, vintage rods, and trucks.
Blessed with clear blue skies, plenty of sunshine, and mild temperatures, it made for a great show. The well-groomed Orange County Fair grounds featured an "open header" route through the grounds, which allowed participants to enjoy cruising their rides with friends. Spectators lined the route with chairs and coolers, taking in the rumbling parade of customs. Rockin' sounds of the past were revisited by The Answers playin' tunes from the '50s and '60s. Cool custom rides covered every possible square foot of the fairgrounds. At the end of the day, some 87 winners from the different classes were handed awards.
