The week prior to Lay'd Out at the Park, the entire state of Tennessee was deluged by thunderstorms and horrible weather that definitely put the show in jeopardy. But a few dozen tornados and golf-ball-sized hail didn't stop hundreds of trucks and over 3,200 spectators from swarming into Cherokee Park in Morristown, Tennessee. Although several show participants had stories of racing against storms en route to the show, the weather in Morristown cooperated and the audience was treated to blue skies as the park provided the perfect backdrop for custom fullsize, mini, and import trucks and cars.
The highlight of the show for many of the participants came on Saturday night as the Morristown Police closed down a five-lane strip of pavement for draggin'. Before crossmembers and drag bars were unleashed on the unsuspecting asphalt, Str8 Up Stuntrz put on a show for the spectators. With about a dozen different motorcycles and quads, they kept the crowd riled up with stunts, smoky burnouts, and some pyrotechnics.
Over 500 vehicles turned out for Lay'd Out at the Park, which is especially impressive for a show that's only in its second year. If you want to stay posted on next year's show, visit www.laydoutatthepark.com.
