If there was a 12-step program for enthusiasts who are recovering customization addicts, we would recommend that Jerry Hill shouldn't join it. Some bad habits are meant to never be broken. Most people don't recognize their "problem" until they hit rock bottom, or in Jerry's experience, rock-hard asphalt. He and his girlfriend Amanda Harrison wandered from one truck show to another in search of cool ideas for his truck buildup. In the process, he befriended veteran customizer Jason Bullock of Bullock Body Works in White House, Tennessee, who applied his well-honed skills to coloring and shaping Jerry and Amanda's Chevy S-10 into a classic minitruck.
It took months of work for Bullock to finish the job, highlighted by multiple three-hour drives taken by Jerry to check on the progress of the project. Eventually, the truck was ready, and Jerry and Amanda drove away with a truck that doesn't quite resemble the one you see in these photos, and here's why: Two days after they picked it up, they wrecked the roll pan and fenders while dragging the S-10 on the Interstate. So, it was back to Bullock's shop, where the damage was fixed and the look updated even more. Many weeks later, they picked up the truck again and, not long after, busted an air line. What's it like to slam their truck onto the freeway at 70 mph? "It sucks, man," as did taking the truck back to Bullock to fix that suspension.
Since then, he's only busted an air line once again, and on the same route as before, by the way, which raises the question: Does Tennessee pave its roads with asphalt or razor blades? Regardless, Jerry and Amanda have harnessed their addiction to automotive excellence to win at every show they've been to.
