Aaron installed DJM upper and lower control arms and Slam Specialty and Firestone 'bags to drop the Navigator to the ground, which is apparently the safest posture to assume on Sacramento's streets.
Aaron Sakahara wanted to build a Navigator that no one had ever seen before. One that was laid out flat and tucking 22s-an idea that, for him, was a bulletproof proposition. Fortunately, the skin of his truck is bullet-resistant, if not bulletproof. Soon after completing the work on this '99 Lincoln Navigator, a shotgun-wielding carjacker introduced Aaron to the physics of buckshot leaving a muzzle at something like 1000 feet per second. Unfortunately for Aaron, the brain's "oh shit" response moves at a disturbingly slow 99 fps, which is faster than a stone's throw but not quick enough to dodge bullets.
The Navigator took the hit. Imagine one of Detroit's finest throwing itself in front of Aaron's body in a filial attempt to protect its maker and you still don't quite get the idea-but at least it reads well. Sweep aside drama's hype, however, and you are still left with the fact that Aaron's freshly minted SUV took not one, but three hits that scarred a door, wheel, and fender before a high-velocity stab at the accelerator got them out of there. And whereas history's Lincoln fared poorly with his wounds, Aaron's Lincoln recovered nicely after a month of work.
Before Aaron almost got laid low on the mean streets of Sacramento, California-his home town-he had been enjoying the less-lethal task of laying out the Navigator. In fact, he had done just about everything but paint it. The result is a double-barrel blast of customization, firing straight for you at the speed of imagination.
