1999 GMC Sierra - Dead Man Rockin'

Seafood. That's what Jimmy Parks lists as his occupation on our tech sheet. Apparently, brevity is a virtue on the Eastern seaboard. Thankfully, it's not when it comes to building trucks. Jimmy spent six years building his '99 GMC Sierra with the perseverance of a crabber, resulting in a pickup with the flamboyance of a Pike Place fishmonger.

The first thing people notice when they catch sight of this truck coming down the highway is its bright entry into the slipstream. Its Caddy-clipped front end is strobed with the yellow thermonuclear heart of a green flame job that careens down the shaved sides of the GMC's blue body. No matter how brilliant any truck's entry into this life, it must, like all else, end somewhere-or at least at the spooky, horror-flick landscape that's rendered on this vehicle's tailgate and rollpan. The theme exudes from the doorjambs, where skulls fume in smoky defiance of convention. Cadillac EXT taillights blink from the back end of the GMC's 3-1/2-inch body-dropped droop. A-Z Customs in Cambridge, Maryland, performed all of the body work.

The ebullient exterior inspired the interior, where the blue tweed floor, headliner, and dash; the yellow Corbeau racing seats; and the green flames on the floor, doors, headliner, and sub enclosure contrast with absolute intensity. White instrument gauges clean up the instrument cluster, and a B.A.D. Skull wheel lets death's bony fingers do the driving. A 2-inch rollbar tries to contain the visual cacophony. Speaking of cacophony, eight 15-inch MTX subwoofers and four JL Audio component sets all powered by three MTX 8100s blast the jams. An Icon-TV monitor adds audio-video excitement, and two nitrous bottles on the amp rack hint at another kind of exhilaration. Straders in Milford, Delaware, handled the interior's appointments, while Sound FX in Lewes, Delaware, installed the musical madness.

Beneath Jimmy's GMC, DJM spindles, control arms, a four-link, and Slam Specialties airbags got the GMC laying low enough to tap the top of the devil's brainpan. Toxic shocks keep road bumps from getting too toxic. Nitto 285/35R22 tires wrap 22x10-inch Intro wheels in their rubbery embrace. Beneath the bed lies the relocated battery and the 3-inch MagnaFlow exhaust. A-Z took care of all these mods as well.
