You may not know much about the 2005 C4500 Kodiak 4x4 Crew Cab, so let's take a moment to peruse its merits. The Kodiak (and its sib the GMC TopKick) is a medium-duty pickup. It is powered by a 6.6L V-8 Duramax diesel that is mated to an Allison 1000 five-speed automatic and produces 300 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque. This Kodiak seats six, has a GVWR of 17,500 pounds and a GCWR of 26,000 pounds. It rides on a solid axle up front, a floating axle in the back, and leaf springs all around. This here truck is big, as is the bear that it is named after. You need to pull up on a handle to climb into it and remember to shout "Geronimo" as you bail out.
Audio manufacturer Mitek and truck accessory maker Monroe Truck Equipment teamed up on building this Kodiak into a supersized custom. Skilled installers Jason Planck, Craig Marsh, Tom Bostic, and Trevor Dobrygoski built this truck at the Mitek Show Vehicle Operations facility in Monroe, Wisconsin, along with folks from Monroe Truck Equipment. Mitek brands such as MTX and StreetWires were used in the project, as was equipment from Monroe Truck Equipment.
Tim Armstrong of Kreative Kustom in Ashland, Tennessee, laid the paints on the Kodiak's bodacious body. The color scheme and patterns continue onto the fabricated door panels. Bugs beware-not of the Kodiak's formidable snout, but of the detailer's wrath should they mar the mirror finish of the Monroe Truck Equipment stainless steel tube grille and side vents or chrome bully bar on the front bumper, or knock out of alignment any of the 8-inch KC driving lights mounted on the bar. No arthropod unlucky enough to impact said accessories would survive the impact, but its soul might incur the eternal enmity of the truck's rag-wielding caretakers. And any stone that would ding the Monroe Truck Equipment diamond-plated running boards would surely be ground to dust by such anger.
That bed is by Monroe Truck Equipment, which installed a Kodiak pickup box. It is mounted on a Monroe Truck Equipment sub-frame and has a B&W gooseneck hitch. Tubular bedrails give you a hand up and over the side of the cargo box and onto the power retractable tonneau cover and the Bed Rug bedliner beneath it.
The engine on this Kodiak is stock, with the exception of the exhaust. Those dual 4-inch stainless steel tips poking out in front of the rear tires are part of Monroe Truck Equipment's custom quad exhaust system. Augmenting that leaf spring suspension is a Monroe Truck Equipment air suspension for the rear axle, cab, and the front bucket seats. Yeah...the seats. The stock 19-inch wheels were replaced by 22-1/2-inch chromed Alcoa aluminum wheels wrapped in 265/75R22.5 Goodyear tires.
