We had just received our early copies of Truckin' No. 7 and before I left for Bakersfield to cover the NSRA show, I grabbed a bundle to deliver to Ivan and the guys. It was odd to hand-carry those copies and give them to Ivan and Phil. I have never made a personal delivery. They were elated. The smiles and expressions on their faces were priceless.

A couple of weeks later, after unloading their custom rides for a local show 'n' shine in Riverside, California, after they had cruised over to their reserved spots and parked, Ivan went over to a convenient store to get some smokes and a soft drink and to see if the new issue of Truckin' No. 7 had come out on the newsstand yet. Sure enough, the magazine was out on the rack. Ivan bought every one. His dream had become a reality for the world to see. After showing his brother Phil the copies, the two shared his joy.

Ivan Leatherman was taken from us that afternoon, May 5, 2006. He passed away from a massive heart attack. After returning from an out-of-town feature shoot I received the phone call of Ivan's passing.

Our lives' journeys are made up of loved ones, friends, relationships, and experiences. To some things, there are no answers to why. I was blessed to have Ivan become part of my life's journey. His memories will be with me forever.

Ivan's cruise into eternity will last forever. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
