Built over a three-year period, Danny Auman's 1966 Chevy C10 is as clean and simple as it is filthy and unbridled. Slung low over performance parts, exhaust roaring from the 502ci V-8, and massive street-legal Mickey Thompson 18-inch wide tires in the rear ready to hook at a moment's notice, the only thing this truck exudes is hell-raising. Torch red and always willing, get out your 8-ounce boxing gloves and get ready to rumble.

Danny and his wife, Donna, love cruising and attending truck shows because of the awesome people they get to meet and the fun the two of them can share while idling along in their street truck. Cruising is a ton of fun for anyone fortunate enough to be behind the wheel of this rig with over 500 horsepower on tap. Under the all-steel hood lies a fully polished 502ci GM Performance Parts crate engine. Bolted to the ported and polished aluminum heads are a polished intake, Holley carburetor, and the ultimate in hot-rod looks: a Shotgun Bill air scoop. Billet Specialties valve covers add good looks, along with a polished fan shroud, polished battery box, chrome hood latches, motor mounts, and radiator supports. Full-length ceramic-coated Hedman headers send spent exhaust into 3-inch tubing ending in two-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. All of that power is translated into tire-shredding torque thanks to a B&M-prepped Turbo 400 transmission with a B&M 2,800-rpm stall converter.

Keeping all of that power on the ground is a ladder bar four-link rear setup with diagonal link using Koni coilovers. A large mass of rubber meets the North Carolina asphalt when Danny hits the go-pedal thanks to Mickey Thompson's all-new 29x18x20 street D.O.T. tire. Inside the chunks of rubber are extra-wide 20x14-inch Boyd Coddington Smoothie II billet hoops. Five inches of backspacing provide huge 9-inch lips of billet perfection and a look that is sure to start trends. In order to fit those huge wheels perfectly, Danny narrowed the rear axles and moved the differential back two inches. Up front, 18x8-inch Smoothie II wheels are wrapped in new Mickey Thompson 26x10x18 tires that fit just right inside the front fenders thanks to 2-inch Early Classics drop springs and Belltech 2-1/2-inch drop spindles. MP disc brakes stop the front, and the factory rear drums are buried behind the massive rear wheels. Gray powdercoated control arms complement the gloss black powdercoated frame.

After the suspension was handled, Rod Crafters in Welcome, North Carolina, took over prepping and painting the body. Now absent from the truck are the emblems, mirrors, tailgate chains, and stake pockets. Calling the street truck home are freshly chromed bumpers, door handles, and widened wheeltubs. Rod Crafters then painted each steel panel PPG Torch Red and added the white stripe and '57 Chevrolet script inside the white stripe. Oak wood now resides in the bed, with stainless strips breaking up the dark color.

Inside the red doors is an interior as beautiful as it is functional. Cream ultra leather covers the '96 Chevy bench seat, along with the headliner and Rod Doors door panels. Covering the Dolphin gauges is a chrome bezel, right next to the Vintage Air controls. Looking up at the chrome Flaming River steering column and half-wrap leather steering wheel is caramel Mercedes carpet. Sew Fine in Concord, North Carolina, executed the clean interior to perfection. A one-off lower dash panel houses the A/C vents and provides added depth to the dash.

Proudly showing his truck all over the Southeast, Danny has a truck that takes home plenty of trophies and can then leave the show in a hurry with wide black stripes applied to the street.
