Making sure display vehicles are completed on time to be shown at the annual SEMA show would sound like no big deal. Realistically, there is a whole year between shows, so what could be the problem with that much time? And yet, things are not what they seem, and most of the vehicles attending SEMA are built in mere weeks prior to the event. National sales manager, John Almiron, faced this exact predicament when he was asked to have an eye-catching ride set up to display products for his employer, Roadmax Automotive. His response was this fun and user-friendly '06 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. Built in short order, it was barely considered completed in time for its debut.
John began by putting his company's line of billet accessories in the nose of the truck. Polished, 8-mm billet rods filled the main grille, while additional parts were fitted to the bumper, air dam, and fog-light openings. With those completions, the truck went to the Custom Truck Shop in San Dimas, California, for a big truck transformation. Under the 1500 2WD is a 12-inch Bulletproof suspension lift that was custom colored in red, white, and silver by Maximum Powder Coat. Atlas leaf springs replaced the stock pack and Bilstein 5100-series reservoir shocks, duals in the front and singles out back, damp the bounce and jounce. Weld Racing 20-inch Sand Storm wheels with contrasting, black-trim rings and 38-inch Interco Trxus tires are stopped thanks to a SSBC Force 10 front-braking array, and a braided stainless brake-line package. Factory gears do their best to turn the massive rubber with added power for the 5.3L V-8, which is supplied from an AEM Brute Force intake, MagnaFlow stainless after-cat exhaust, and Hypertech Power Programmer.
With the grilles already in place, the rest of the body needed more attention paid to it. While still in the capable hands of the Custom Truck Shop, the guys kept on the trail to completion. Smooth, painted fender flares from ATS did not require drilling to install, and helped to dispel the debris tossed off of the large Interco rubber.
