The truck gets its imposing stance from an 8-inch Fabtech lift kit along with Daystar spacers and blocks for an extra 2 inches, plus aggressive 22-inch MHT Driv NT-1 rims and 40-inch-tall Toyo Open Country M/T rubber.
Sometimes, if you do it right, work can be as much fun as play, and Jeremy Griffith of Orlando, Florida, has found the right combination. He works in the family business, Wal-Rose Site Development, and enjoys driving his truck for business and pleasure. He's had lots of work trucks in the past and has also found time to create three full-blown custom trucks such as this '07 F-350 Super Duty. The build on this one was interesting, however.
Jeremy was in the middle of customizing an '03 Super Duty when a friend called to tell him about the new '07 trucks that had just hit the dealer lots. As it turned out, it took very little persuading once he saw one of the new trucks on the showroom floor. Before long, the '03 found a new home, and Jeremy turned his attention to personalizing his new Outlaw Edition '07 F-350 Lariat crew cab.
The 6.0L Ford Power Stroke was strong right out of the box, but the addition of a cold-air intake, an upgraded exhaust, and a Sniper Programmer bumped power past 400 hp.
Lifted, Not LoweredJeremy has always been into lifted trucks and had a clear idea of what the new truck would look like. He does all his own work and began the project by upgrading the factory Ford front and rear axles with 4.56 gears for better low-end performance.
He ordered Fabtech's 8-inch radius-arm suspension package for the front end, featuring tubular arms; strong, dimpled side plates; and adjustable alignment cams for correct caster. The 8-inch replacement coil springs were augmented with Daystar spacers to add another 2 inches of lift along with Fabtech's track-bar relocation brackets, a pitman arm, bumpstop mounts, and steering stabilizers.
The rear uses Fabtech's rear spring-hanger system with 3-inch spring-hanger brackets and soft-ride leaf springs combined with 2-inch blocks to create the 10-inch lift in the rear. Fabtech's nitrogen-filled shocks damp all four corners.
All the components were powdercoated candy-apple red with gold flake for a custom touch, and once the parts were on hand, it took Jeremy just five hours to complete the installation. For an appropriately imposing look, he outfitted the F-350 Lariat with big 22x11.50 MHT Driv NT-1 rims fitted with Toyo 40x15.50R22 Open Country M/T rubber.
Each of the four doors in this crew cab is fitted with custom fiberglass enclosures housing the mids and highs of this elaborate stereo system. |  |
The console is the centerpiece of the installation. Running from the dashboard to the custom sub enclosure, it holds multiple monitors and the twin JL Audio amplifiers that power the system. | |
