At first glance, you may think your eyes are playing tricks on you. Besides, there is no way someone would add an extra set of dualie wheels, an extra axle, do all the extra bodywork, and create an extra frame for a tow rig, right? Wrong. Amir Rosenbaum of Ontario, California, not only did do all of those things, he also uses his '04 Chevy tow rig to push his Ferrari F40 Bonneville Salt Flat race car. If you're intrigued, you should be, as this is one of the coolest trucks on the planet.

Meeting with chassis and frame guru Aaron Iha, of Chassis By Aaron in Covina, California, Amir expressed his interest in building a truck that was completely radical, yet functional, and still subtle and clean. If that scenario sounds impossible, it's not. Aaron proved it by taking a year to create a truck that stops traffic. Starting with an '04 Chevy Crew Cab 3500 dualie, the team at Chassis by Aaron tore the truck down to the frame. Looking at the front suspension, it's pretty basic with one-off upper and lower control arms, QA1 shocks, and Firestone 26C airbags.

Each piece of the suspension was powdercoated black to ensure everything stayed rust-free. Moving to the rear, Aaron and Amir had a wild idea. Amir wanted a double dualie, meaning he wanted a setup identical to a big-rig only he wanted it equipped on a 1-ton truck. Oh, and he also wanted it to lay frame on all eight wheels, and it had to be functional. Aaron didn't see this as a problem and he immediately went to work.

Nothing says custom like cutting a frame in half, and with torch in hand, the entire back-half of the dualie was removed. On went a boxed subframe, which was extended to add room for the extra axle. Two sets of heavy-duty axles were ordered and shortened to spec, then the guys at Chassis by Aaron created two identical four-link suspension setups for each axle. Enabling the suspension travel are four QA1 shocks and four Firestone 26C airbags. A USA 6x6 transfer case was installed, which enables all eight rear wheels to power the Chevy. Each axle receives power from a one-off driveshaft incorporating CV joints.

Fabbed into the rear frame and suspension, a fifth wheel hitch was also installed for goose-neck towing. In the very rear of the frame lies a huge 40-gallon aluminum fuel cell. Providing access to the rear suspension and drive axles, Aaron also built a four-link setup for the bed, which allows it to tilt via two airbags. After the stainless steel brake lines were measured, everything was removed and powdercoated black or silver, with each axle receiving red powdercoating. Finishing off the slammed look are 22x10-inch Brentz billet wheels with Toyo Proxes tires sized 305/45R22. Slammed on the ground, the crew at Chassis by Aaron knew they had something special.

Attempts to piece together the rear bed sides proved futile, so one-piece fiberglass bed sides were created to give the double dualie a truly unique look. Before taking it to be painted, Aaron hand stamped a front bumper with a cutout for the planned intercooler and the look perfectly matches the idea of a pusher truck. Completing the front end, a steel cowl hood was bolted on, then out back a roll pan was also welded in and the tailgate handle was shaved. Delivering the Chevy to Buck Wild Designs in West Covina, California, Aaron discussed several paint options.

Once both parties were happy, Buck Ramirez and his crew went to work making the body straight as an arrow; because when a truck is this long and big, the smallest imperfection is noticeable. Not to worry, this truck doesn't have any flaws. Buck then went to work applying the House of Kolor custom-mixed red to the upper portion of the truck and a pewter to the bottom half. The end result is a clean and elegant two-tone that still looks sinister with eight rear wheels. What powers those eight wheels might surprise you.

Under the cowl hood lies a gas-powered 8.1L big-block V-8. No diesel here. Amir is the owner of Spectre Performance, which specializes in air intakes, tubing, and filters. Wanting to go fast -after all, the truck is a Bonneville pusher truck-Amir added some performance bolt-ons. Helping the big 8.1L breathe is a Paxton NOVI 1200 supercharger. Sending the air to the blower is a wild intake. Seeing that intakes and filters are Spectres bread and butter, Amir went big on his personal truck. Three conical high-flow filters are connected into one large intake tube that feeds the supercharger.

Mounted to a custom intake plenum, the filters also receive fresh, cool air from the cowl hood that seals to the plenum, thanks to weatherstripping. Keeping all of the boost and air supply happy is a custom tune from Spectre's own eMS programming system. Cooling down the intake charge is a Fluidyne intercooler, which can be seen through the front bumper. Meanwhile, a custom MagnaFlow exhaust provides the rumble. The double dualie was now in a real league of its own, but we all know this tale can't end without a killer interior.

Rogelio's Auto Upholstery in Baldwin Park, California, worked hard to make the all-plastic interior look upscale. The end result saw the seats recovered in light tan leather with black piping, a black leather headliner, and black carpet. The dash was painted to match the seats and outside, while the red hue and a 15-inch Billet Specialties Vintec steering wheel adds to the custom look. The audio is all Memphis Audio.

Two Memphis MCA3004 amps power three pairs of components in the doors, while one Memphis MCH1300 amp powers four 10-inch Memphis subs. The subwoofers are housed in a two-tone leather-wrapped enclosure that looks perfect behind the rear seats. Controlling the audio and video system is an Auto PC with a 10-inch touchscreen integrated into the dash. Now, Amir has himself a real-world show truck that's both beautiful and functional.

We can attest to the true custom nature of this build, as people perform double- and triple-takes when trying to figure out this truck. It rides nice and smooth, lays frame over big wheels, and can actually smoke all eight rear tires. It sounds like the perfect tow, push, and show truck to us.
