2007 Chevy Colorado - Never Ending

Once Bitten By The Bug...

No stranger to these pages, Scott Harris, of Gilbert, Arizona, decided to go relatively mild with his '07 Colorado build. No airbags or a supercharger; just a clean driver that is still custom. After talking to him about the truck, he laughed and said, "Well, I might shave it up and body-drop it, now that it's finished." We know how he feels, once you've been bitten by the custom bug, there is no turning back.

Delivering the stock Crew Cab Colorado to Custom Truck Accessories in Phoenix, Scott requested a lowering kit that would help the already stable Chevy handle better, but not ride too harsh. The answer came from a Belltech ball joint flip kit and adjustable coilover setup. With the front end nice and low, the crew at Custom Truck Accessories installed 2-inch lowering blocks and leaf springs. Giving the rear some extra travel, Grunion Fabrication, also in Phoenix, installed a C-notch in the frame. Attempting to fill each fender are 20-inch Bonspeed Velocity billet wheels with Hankook tires protecting each hoop. Stopping the Chevy is a big brake kit from Stainless Steel Brakes. Out back, the rear drum was converted to an SSBC disc by Custom Truck Accessories.

Power comes from a 2.9L four-cylinder equipped with a K&N intake and MagnaFlow exhaust system. Three Optima batteries keep plenty of 12-volt juice on demand. Whereas the engine may not overwhelm you, the exterior paint work is plenty to look at while cruising by. Rob Olen of Olen Custom Paint, in Phoenix, applied the PPG Dodge Viper Red, black, and silver two-tone paint with a tribal graphic separating the two strong hues. Adding to the aggressive look is a steel cowl hood, shaved tailgate handle, Sir Michael's roll pan, and Grillcraft upper and lower billet grille. Topping off the bed is a Leer 800 series tonneau cover.
