Redesigned for '07, the new GMC Sierra is a strikingly good-looking truck with broad fenders, smooth body lines, and a large grille opening just screaming for some custom treatment. Wanting to create a SoCal example of the Sierra, the Bonspeed California Speed and Design Studio partnered with Coury GMC of Mesa, Arizona, to create the perfect show and tow cruiser. Built in only 60 days, this truck proves the days of sport trucks are still alive and well.
Brad Fanshaw, the owner of Bonspeed, delivered his '08 GMC to Louie Morosan at the Custom Truck Shop in San Dimas, California, for a total truck transformation. While up on the rack at the Custom Truck Shop, the crew installed a McGaughy's 4/6 lowering kit. Up front, new drop spindles and coil springs bring the nose down, while out back, a new leaf pack and drop shackles handle the rear end. New shocks on all four corners rounded out the suspension work. For race-ready stopping power, 14-inch rotors with six-piston billet calipers from SSBC were installed with 12-inch discs bolted up to the rear.
Brad then went to work choosing the perfect wheel and tire combo for the lowered GMC. On went the first production set of Bonspeed Vector wheels, which were powdercoated black with brushed hoops, all clear-coat protected for lasting good-looks. Up front, the Bonspeed billet wheels measure 22x8-1/2 inches and are wrapped in Pirelli 265/40R22 tires with the rear 22x10-inch Bonspeed wheels receiving 285/40R22 Pirelli tires. Providing a boost in power is a Borla dual exhaust system. With the truck running like a champ, it was time to make it look even better.
