A quick trip across the parking lot from the Custom Truck Shop to L&G Custom Paint saw the GMC go from boring to eye-catching. Theresa Contreras of L&G applied the DuPont Sunset Orange on the bottom half of the truck, Candy Red in the middle, and topped off the Sierra in Black. Bright and vibrant, the paint lends to the SoCal mentality of getting noticed. Finishing off the body accessories, an SES Trim wire grille was bolted on up front, and a Peragon aluminum retractable tonneau cover was installed in the bed. Moving inside the GMC, more function and style can be found.
Harrison Design in Huntington Beach, California, recovered the seats in tan leather with red and gray stripes that perfectly match the exterior colors. The factory wood grain trim was changed to brushed aluminum inserts to update the interior. Even the door panels received matching leather inserts. Mark's Audio and Video in Irwindale, California, then took over and installed the Sony audio system. Up front, a Sony XAV-W1 DVD head unit controls the two Sony XM1S amps and one Sony XMS4 amp. Those amplifiers send powerful watts to two Sony 10-inch subs under the rear seat in a leather-wrapped enclosure, as well as to the Sony speakers in each door. The sweet sounds are the perfect addition for a cruise down the coast.
Talking with Brad about his GMC, he told us that there are two other in-house projects under the knife, and this Sierra will serve as the tow vehicle. This truck should have no problem garnering looks with even the most custom of hot rods in tow.
