2004 GMC Sierra - Eye Candy

In the late 1950s, candy paintjobs took the custom world by storm. Since then, many trends have come and gone, but a great candy paintjob has never gone out of style. When Turner Woods of Surprise, Arizona, began customizing his '04 Sierra, he knew he wanted a look that would stand the test of time; and it has, as this paintjob is going on two years old, looking just as good today as the day it was rolled out the booth.

Lucky Luciano Custom Paint in Phoenix is responsible for the bodywork, which was kept simple to allow for trouble-free driving. The majority of the effort went into the bed, where the taillights were filled in and LED lights were flush-mounted to the welded-in roll pan. The stake pockets were also filled, and the tonneau was shaped to fit more flush with the bed. It was a lot of work, but worth the result. Finally, the gas door was welded up and the filler neck was relocated to the inside of the rear wheelwell. With the body fully prepped for paint, Lucky sprayed House of Kolor White over the bottom half of the truck, and Orion Silver over the top. Several coats of Kandy Apple Red followed the silver, with a thin silver graphic separating the two. The finishing touch was a bit of pinstriping and a drop shadow. Then, Lucky's attention turned to what was behind the sheetmetal.

Inside the truck, Lucky did the finish work on the center console, amp rack, and blow-through subwoofer enclosure. The dash, pillar, and seat plastics were also smoothed and painted Kandy Apple Red, while the door panels and bottom half of the console and dash were covered in suede. Auto Styles took the suede one step further and wrapped the headliner and visors. Continuing the red and tan look, the factory seats were wrapped in Katzkin Camel leather with Madera Red suede inserts. With nearly everything in the cab matching the paint, it was time to add a little brightwork. Billet pedals, dash knobs, vents, and a BAD steering wheel were all it took to liven up the look.
