2007 Chevy Tahoe - American Beauty

Most consumers were pleased with the increase of the '07 Chevrolet Tahoe's size compared to the previous generation. But as the old saying goes, "you can't make everyone happy, all of the time." Well, we editors at Truckin' aren't usually ones to point fingers, but we do know one guy in particular who thought the revamped Tahoe just wasn't quite big enough. The man in question answers to the name of Greg Brown, and he hails from Pasadena, Texas.

It really wasn't the new Tahoe's passenger and cargo space that bothered Greg. As anyone can see, there seemed to be real concern about driving way down in the Earth's troposphere. Greg ran with one of his state's unofficial mottos: "Everything's bigger in Texas," and translated the sentiment into an automotive application. Greg spared no expense as he transformed his stock, vertically challenged `Hoe into a sky-scraping tank that any custom connoisseur can appreciate.

For those of you who are taking in Greg's Chevy for the first time, you don't have to worry about straining your neck while admiring its Himalayan-like height. In case you were wondering, the Tahoe has been blasted 16 inches above the factory stance-definitely not for the mild at heart. We figure, when the time comes to void the warranty of a one-year old vehicle, one might as well obliterate it instead of getting revoked by the dealer service, due to a borderline infraction.

To get the truck that high off the ground, Greg turned to Third Coast Suspension, also located in Pasadena, Texas, for their expertise in quality fabrication. Once the guys at the shop sized up the Tahoe's stock suspension setup, it was only a matter of time before they realized how to send it halfway to the moon. Aside from the King coilover shocks that were attached to each corner, the laborious lift was a complete Third Coast production. They even stripped and painted the frame and treated the sway bar to gold-plating; form and function at its finest. To further add to the capable suspension system, a set of KMC 22x11 Balzac wheels with accompanying 40/15.50R22 Nitto Mud Grappler tires have been thrown in for good measure. Although the Tahoe's new height is its most striking feature, there is more to this looker than just long legs and high heels.
