MTX audio professionals Jason Planck, Craig Marsh, and John Wilson worked relentlessly over the 5-week period while the EXT was being prepared for its show-touring lifestyle at the Mitek Show Vehicle Operations facility in Monroe, Wisconsin. The Kenwood KVT-819DVD 7-inch monitor/DVD player serves as the hub for the high-fidelity sound system that the MTX audiophiles pieced together. Three-way MTX TXC component speakers were installed into each of the front door panels with an additional TXC.1 tweeter added to each A-pillar. Each door panel has also been graced with an MTX TT6512-04 12-inch shallow subwoofer. As for the amp setup for the front speakers, a TE1004 running at 2 ohms provides power to the two component sets, two tweets, and the pair of subs in the doors. With a system like this, you better believe that heavier alternator reinforcements were called in and three Powermaster 220 amp units were just enough to fit the bill. The new alts were powdercoated to maintain the flat/satin black paint scheme. One Powermaster XS Power D2400 battery has replaced the OE-equipped cell and four XS Power D3100 batteries are neatly tucked away in a stainless steel case mounted to the undercarriage of the bed.
Now that the sound junkies have been well taken care of, turn down the volume just a bit and briefly focus on the Caddy's other striking features. The EXT has been lowered a mild 2 inches in the front and 3 inches in the back but an air suspension has also been installed for the purpose of convenient height adjustability. A set of 24x10-inch Yaffa Series Zoe Wheels, which have been treated with matching matte paint, and Toyo Proxes have been mounted underneath the fenders for a stealth and slick appearance. A Lexani body kit, rear suicide doors, and an E&G Classics grille have also been added to the list of impressive modifications.
The Cadillac's interior was lavishly upgraded as custom suede and leather upholstery wraps the seats, dash, A-pillars and center console where four MTX Thunder Elite Series amps reside. A 20-inch Soyo flat panel monitor has been affixed to each of the rear suicide doors for the ultimate in visual stimulation.
Hopefully by now, the MTX Cadillac EXT has rolled into a town near you because seeing and hearing a work of audio artistry such as this will surely inspire one to put more effort into a stereo system build. Reread this article if need be and be prepared to take lots of notes if your main objective is to be heard from miles away.
