Mark Cassidy of Kingsport, Tennessee, is a member of Acrophobia, and his S-10 has been a relatively quick build. As it sits now, Mark and his buddies Chad Hylton of Metal Works, Bobby Wilson, and Dwyane Mullins have been wrenching on the '98 extended cab for less than a year. Currently the suspension features DJM drop spindles, Slam Specialties airbags, custom red-painted Suicide Doors upper A-arms, and a KP Components rear six-link setup. A 2-3/4-inch body-drop brings the flat black body over the 20-inch Centerline Smoothie wheels. A fully-shaved body is home to Caddy taillights, a 2-inch Goodmark cowl hood, and a GMC Envoy front clip. Inside the sheetmetal bed lies wood planks and a large wheeltub to clear the tires and air suspension setup.
To power the S-10, Fred McCamy built a 383ci stroker fitted with an Eagle crank, Speed Pro pistons, and ported/polished heads. Outside the engine block, several chrome and billet accessories brighten up the engine bay while rolled fenders add to the clean under-the-hood area. Kinetik batteries keep the voltage strong throughout the truck. A 350 tranny features Kevlar clutches and bands with a B&M shift kit. Snapping Mark back into his reupholstered bright red S-10 bench seat, the V-8's vitals are read through the stock S-10 cluster that was custom-fitted into a chopped and sectioned '57 Ford Country Sedan Wagon dash.
Metal Works Inc, in Jonesborough, Tennessee, has been busy working on the S-10, and as the rendering shows, they're close to calling this slick S-10 completed. Keep up the good work fellas!
As Mark told us, "Nothing on this truck has come easy, it seemed to fight us all along the way." "The project snowballed to what it is." He also told us that he's "Looking forward to finishing the truck up, hitting some shows, and the full paintjob coming from Brian at Lost Cause." We can relate to the constant struggles of finishing a truck and it sounds like this S-10 will be dropping jaws all show season long in 2010.
