2007 Hummer H2 SUT - Undercover Hummer

Joe first started things off by contacting Nick Jehle of Elite Motorsports, in Laguna Beach, California, to boost the Hummer's ride height with a modest, but noticeable ReadyLift 1-inch leveling kit that cleared more than enough room for the new rolling wear. Not just any rollers would fit the bill for this H2, however, as Joe selected a set of 24-inch Strut Icon 7 two-piece wheels that practically drip with extravagance. The wheels were given the flat black treatment before they were dipped in 37-inch Toyo Open County M/T rubber. To help stop the weight of the Hummer and its additional wheel/tire mass, an oversize Brembo eight-pistion front/four-piston rear big brake kit proved to be a much welcomed upgrade. Also upgraded was the Hummer's factory 6.2L V-8 powerplant, which received a Volant intake system and an RBP 3.5-inch exhaust system.

When it came time to style the Hummer, Joe had something of a covert, secret service type ride in mind. Of course, class was still to be its strongest attribute, so a four-course helping of Strut styling accessories, in the way of the gloss black grille inserts and Strut logo badges, and front and rear bumpers, were ordered up and bolted into place. Every textured area of the H2's skin was sanded smooth before Scott Bakkum of Courtesy Auto Body, also in Laguna Beach, sprayed the matte black paint. Joe's Hummer looks like its ready for a close-up in some blockbuster action flick—too bad our pyrotechnic license didn't show up in time for the photo shoot.

The interior of this low-key looker is styled with the same indulgent, yet subtle sophistication as its exterior. The black leather and diamond-stitched, suede-covered seats, door panels, and center console and black Porsche carpet, courtesy of 714 Motorsports, in Westminster, California, are highlights of the H2's inner beauty, but its Alpine and Rockford Fosgate equipped sound system proves to be quite the contender.

Flashing serious style doesn't always mean having to bolt on a set of the brightest shining wheels or laying down a super busy paint scheme. Of course, quality components are of top importance, but an innovative vision and a talented supporting cast go much further, which is why Joe would like to extend his genuine appreciation to Nick Jehle and Elite Motorsports, Courtesy Autobody, and Strut for their steadfast dedication to his project Hummer.
