1987 Chevy C10 - Thunder Cat

Like many of us custom truck fans, Jesse Guevara grew up in the '80s. Unlike today, where there are so many different pop culture influences from a multitude of different sources, many of us shared the same memories of television shows from that decade. One show in particular grabbed Jesse's attention when he was growing up in Houston, Texas, so when he picked an '87 Chevy C10 to customize, what better theme to incorporate into his truck than the ThunderCats?

Armando Noriega at Mando's Drop Shop was given free reign when it came to the suspension on the C-10, so he went with the quality components he relies on for many of his builds and mounted Firestone 'bags, Belltech spindles, and KYB shocks to the factory control arms up front. For the rear, a notch, Firestone 'bags, and Toxic shocks were selected. The entire system was plumbed with GC valves and 1/2-inch stainless steel lines routed to twin nitrogen bottles in the bed, one of which is emblazoned with the ThunderCats logo. With the suspension needs addressed, Jesse needed a custom set of wheels to truly set off the exterior. Starting with a 22x10-inch set of Centerline Smoothie wheels, Dima Wheels whittled out a set of custom wheels the likes of which you've never seen. Hankook Ecsta ASX radials were chosen for their strong grip and good looks, with 265/35R22 rubber on each corner.

Although you can't quite tell at first glance, the body of Jesse's C10 is smoother than you'd think. What appears to be stainless steel trim is actually the airbrush work of South Coast Customs in Houston, where the Torch Red and black paint were laid down over the '91 Suburban front clip and shaved tailgate. Their work spills into the interior, where their paintwork can be found on the fiberglass door panels and center console that were shaped by Kustom Auto of Houston. Kustom Auto squeezed two 10-inch JL Audio subs in the console and showed off the JL amps under a sweeping floating armrest. Piece by Piece in Houston upholstered the armrest, seats, and Billet Specialties wheel in black leather and red ostrich.
