Working with tools all day long as a Snap On tools franchisee, Rob McKeown wasn’t bashful when John Meadows, of Deuces Wild Hotrods and Customs, in Fillmore, California, needed to make a tweak or two to his ’67 F-100. Already the proud owner of a beautiful show truck, Rob wanted a classic Ford that could be tossed around a road course or autocross track with the best of them. Ford engineers in the ’60s weren’t thinking of racing these trucks when they created the 3,900-pound beast, but John and his Deuces Wild team really transformed the truck using Ridetech’s new coilovers and HyperCo springs up front and a custom Deuces Wild three-link with Panhard bar out back utilizing Ridetech coilovers. Wilwood big brakes bring the Ford to a tire-screeching halt and a .020-over 390ci big-block gets the Blue Oval up to speed with 395 lb-ft of torque. Because of a recent hernia surgery, Rob couldn’t drive his Ford, but we made an exception and allowed his good friend Scott Call to drive for him. Smooth is speed and Scott is a smooth driver who finished First in the road course and Second in the slalom. Seeing this big truck defy the laws of physics was awesome and Scott pushed the Ford as hard as he could. It rewarded him with a Third Place overall finish.
