Form oftentimes supersedes functionality when it comes time to build a custom truck. Wild suspensions, insane engine combinations, and paint too nice to get scratches on are all great for a show truck, but for a daily driver; these modifications can limit the usability of your truck. Having already built a cover truck and show winner in the past, Travis White, of Henderson, Nevada, decided to start with a clean slate and build a custom but functional show truck. As the president of Findlay Customs, a one-stop custom shop in Henderson, Travis had the means to complete another build worthy to turn heads. If Star Wars’ storm troopers needed a 4WD personnel carrier, Travis’ Tundra may just fill the bill.

Starting with a 2010 Toyota Tundra, the team at Findlay Customs got busy removing the factory suspension pieces and bolting on a 12-inch lift from Bulletproof Suspension. Complete with Uniball upper control arms, lift spindles, and Fox Racing Shox upgrade, the Tundra was ready to blast down the desert with ease. Adding more style to the Tundra’s athletic appearance, huge 24x10.5-inch BMF M80 wheels are wrapped in 37-inch Toyo M/T tires. The wheels’ 7-inch lips and Death Metal Black finish screams custom, yet Travis can still drive the truck every day. To help bring the lifted beast to a screeching halt, the Findlay Customs team added supersized TRD big brakes to the front spindles. With 16-inch rotors and six-piston calipers, it’s no wonder the brake pedal feels like someone is stopping the Earth’s rotation. Out back, Atlas leaf springs keep the Tundra level and also allow the Toyota to tow whatever Travis needs it to.

Moving to the body, Findlay used the less is more philosophy and painted the grille surround, bumpers, and door handles factory white. Giving the Tundra more attitude, small headlight “eyebrows” were applied for a menacing front end look. A Truck Covers USA tonneau cover keeps the bed protected while smoked lenses add to the truck’s overall style. Powering the Toyota is the easy-revving 5.7L iForce V-8 and to coerce some more ponies from the engine, a TRD intake and Banks Monster exhaust were bolted on.

Katzkin perforated gray leather seat covers wrap the stock seats and the Findlay Customs crew wrapped each pillar and the headliner in grey suede with contrasting white stitching for the look and feel of a European sports car interior. A Kenwood head unit controls the audio mayhem while three 7-inch monitors provide rear passengers with DVD entertainment.

Mounted in the back of the rear seat, three JL Audio amps are out of sight and out of the way. Two 13.5-inch JL Audio subs are mounted in Stealth boxes and provide enough bass to give the front passenger a back massage.
