Maybe your first look at Kevin Russell’s ’03 H2 had you scratching your head. It does sort of look like the body has been shrunk because the wheels and tires just look massive by comparison. It’s not trick photography, and it’s not the perspective of the monster 3rd Coast Suspension lift, those really are 54-inch tall Super Swamper Boggers mounted to 20x12-inch Weld wheels.

Kevin is the owner of B&C Offroad in Pasadena, Texas, and like any business, it helps to make it easy for your customers to find you. What better way than to stand high above the crowd with enough ground clearance to straddle a fire hydrant? Working with another Texas–based company, 3rd Coast Suspension, Kevin used one of their biggest and beefiest kits available, but before mounting the kit, Kevin and his crew removed the body from the frame. The entire frame was stripped bare and was given a unique swirling pattern with help from a grinder before the frame was given several coats of clear and the 3rd Coast dropped crossmembers were bolted in place. Mammoth coil springs and Bilstein shocks suspend the rear of the Hummer on its five-link, while the front doubles up on the remote reservoir Bilsteins thanks to 3rd Coast’s shock hoop. The 6.0L V-8 remains relatively stock, while the axles were both fitted with 5.13 ring and pinion sets to move the engine’s powerband into a more usable range.

Cruising the H2 on the open road with the sound of tires howling over the pavement wasn’t an option, so two JL W3 subs powered by 500 watts of JL Audio amps were fitted into a massive enclosure built by Pat Pettus that dominates the cargo area of the H2. Two additional 300-watt JL amps power the components fitted into the factory locations, and the whole ensemble is orchestrated through a Kenwood head unit. American Drag Seats, in Houston, wrapped the majority of the interior in orange suede and black ostrich, including the expansive headliner, with the remainder set aside for paint.

Swindoll Paint & Body was tapped for their spray gun expertise, and they didn’t disappoint. Beginning by laying orange on top of the black base, the truck was really set off with a dynamic silver and blue graphic separating the two main colors. Swindoll also made sure the dash, door, and center console trim were given their fair share of attention until they were painted to match and polished glass-smooth.

Kevin’s custom creation garners plenty of attention whenever he rolls into shows, just as anticipated. If you ever spot it in a sea of this other creations while meandering through the crowds at a Texas show, make sure you stop by for an up-close look at the impressive beast.
