6th Place

Bill Alvis' S-10 has seen many miles of "testing" with powerful engines under the hood. It originally had a 383ci first-gen V-8 in it when it made the Hot Rod Power Tour long hauls in '09 and then again in '10. After breaking a camshaft at the end of 2010, Bill's truck sat in the garage until right before THROWDOWN. With only two weeks to show time, Bill managed to assemble a menagerie of LS parts into a pretty potent package. His little S-10 was quite a beast out on the dragstrip with a quickest time in the low 11s during the LS Fest bracket racing. Unfortunately, during the THROWDOWN drag race, his nitrous bottle was empty and he couldn't repeat that quick time with the sun down and the track lights glowing. Out on the autocross course, Bill managed to push the small S-10 to a Second Place finish. Falling victim to the horsepower spirits, the rear axle decided to spin the center section around the axle tubes, taking the S-10 out of contention for the slalom competition and ultimately letting enough points slip away keeping him out of the top 5.
