Starlin Welch decided to keep things vintage when he built his '52 F-1, so adding Cragar wheels was not a question. Under the hood, you will find flathead power. The '52 is an ongoing project for Starlin, but he's come a long way in the three years since he started working on it. Hopefully, the oak-bed floor and blue flames over black will stay as the project continues.
Bryan Fuller sent in some great shots of his truck and a video of it smoking some cars at the dragstrip, which is always nice to see. After a 13-month build, the '71 Cheyenne was terrorizing the streets of Spokane, Washington, covered in a custom mix of dark green with blue and green pearl. To be a little different, the trim, emblems, and handles weren't shaved, which adds to the sleeper look. A C-notch and 2-inch drop spindles combined with Air Ride Technologies pieces drop the '71, while a RidePro e2 is used to control the 'bags. Toyo Proxes and 20-inch MHT wheels added some modern style. Inside the cab, beige leather wraps the headliner, dash, and door panels, and a Covan's Classic dash with Auto Meter gauges keep the tabs on the powerplant. We say this thing is a sleeper, because the 468ci big-block and Procharger D-1SC supercharger crank out more than 700 hp to the wheels. Sorry, Bryan, your secret's out.
Factory Style, And Then SomeWhen James Parton and his wife were expecting their first child, James ditched his S-10 project and purchased a '97 Expedition. Harley-Davidson edition F-150 wheels were the first addition, but billet grilles, clear corners, a Cobra-style hood and breathing help from K&N and Flowmaster soon followed. Finally, a Pioneer audio system and a billet-iron cross were added inside. The result is a great sounding, and even better looking, family hauler.
Homegrown
Shayne Cremer took matters into his own hands when lifting his '99 Super Duty. He built his own subframe and suspension with plenty of lift using custom four-links with adjustable coilovers, front and rear, to provide clearance for 49-inch Super Swamper Iroks on 20-inch KMC Rockstar wheels. Both axles were gusseted to withstand the torque of the 7.3L diesel and the additional power from the K&N intake, 5-inch exhaust, and 150hp chip.
Mystery Flames
Mark Croston, a resident of Magnolia, Ohio, has owned this '97 Ranger for seven years and he finally started cutting it up three years ago. A custom fabricated four-link, Slam Specialties 'bags, and 3/8-inch SMC valves control the ride. By activating switches in the custom-center console, Steve gets to sit in two-tone leather seats, behind a fully smoothed and painted dash. Up front, a 4x4 valance, a Cervini's hood, a Stull billet grille, and APC projector lights put his Ranger at a cut above the rest. No mention was made about the ghost flames, but they're a nice addition, too. Mark wanted to thank his fiance (wife?), Amber, for all of her patience during the build.
Mini Truck, Full-Size TiresThis '00 Tacoma got owner Jason Spicer so much attention from Johnny Law, he had to get alternative transportation during the day. It seems that the local police aren't too fond of the 4-inch Pro Comp lift, 3-inch body lift, and the accompanying 35-inch Thornbird rubber. Adding to the look and performance of the truck are clear corner lenses, hoodscoops, dual exhaust, and a stainless trim. With all of that tire underneath, Jason is considering a Chevy V-8 conversion in the future.
