To get your truck featured in Readers' Rides, email a high-resolution photo of your truck to John.Mata@sorc.com. Send in a front 3/4 or profile shot, and make sure it's big enough. We print at a much higher resolution than a website, which means sending links to photos posted online won't necessarily work. Images should be about three megabytes. Also, include plenty of information about yourself, your truck, and your full name. If you want to get your ride noticed by posting it on Truckin' Readers' Rides Online, go to rides.truckinweb.com. Upload as many as 20 photos of your vehicle, along with a detailed description.
The First Time
Carlos Benavides, a 19-year-old student from Houston, Texas, purchased this '03 Chevy Silverado, which happens to be his very first truck. Since buying his new ride, Carlos has lowered the suspension with a 3/4 Belltech drop kit, slapped on a set of factory GM 20-inch wheels, and has wired up a set of bright HID low beams and foglights. Inside the cab, Carlos cut out the center seat and replaced it with a Tahoe center console and also upgraded the sound system.
Jonathan Hudson, from Morgan City, Louisiana, loves his '06 Nissan Titan, but he admits that it does consume most of his time and money. The Titan was dropped two inches all around and is riding around on 22-inch Mirror Alloy wheels and Nexen tires. Under the hood, Jonathan has hooked up a K&N air intake system, Bully Dog Power Pup programmer, and a Flowmaster dual-exit exhaust system for ultimate power.
Steve Glinka would like to share his '07 Toyota Tacoma with our readers. Steve rolled up his sleeves and lifted the truck with a 3-inch Pro Comp kit and bolted on a Flowmaster exhaust. Steve just couldn't stop there so he added a billet grille, LED taillights, an AEM cold air intake, and threw on a set of 18-inch KMC Rockstar wheels complete with 285/60 Nitto Terra Grappler rubber. We are sure impressed, Steve. Keep the mods rolling!
Brian Gruhn, from Clearwater, Florida, sounds like he almost went broke shortly after purchasing his '07 Chevy Avalanche. He wasted no time at all ordering new wheels and almost every part imaginable that fit onto his new ride. The 22-inch Dakar 'Senator' wheels look amazing with the color-matched accents and the Falken Ziex S/TZ04 tires look awesome as well. Brian has leveled the Chevy's stance with a set of rear DJM 2-inch drop coils and has improved its performance with a Volant intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and a DiabloSport tuner. Brian has also gutted his interior and sprayed lots of red paint to better match his truck's vibrant exterior.
Eighteen-year-old Albert Larios, has just graduated from high school and is about to start college life. Luckily, Albert won't be embarking on this journey by himself since his '01 Chevy S-10 Xtreme will be right by his side. Albert has managed to scrape enough cash together to lower his mini-truck and bolt on a set of 20-inch Devino 'Lethal' wheels and Toyo Proxes tires. Inside the cab lies a killer head unit, which controls the Kicker L5 sub and Rockford Fosgate subwoofer.
Marcus Jensen loves his '90 Ford Ranger, which is why he decided to give it a custom overhaul. The truck was given a 3-inch body lift and now sits on 31-inch tires. Inside the cab, Marcus has wired up Alpine and Infinity audio components, which will surely keep the party going when hitting the off-road trails.
The Low Life
Jerry Gaynor, from Springfield, Missouri, has just lowered his '06 Chevy Silverado with a Belltech drop kit and finished up the low look with a set of 20-inch Panther 'Juice' rollers and Cooper 275/40 skins. Jerry also C-notched his frame for added suspension travel, and just in case he wants to go lower in the future, he now has the room for it. Jerry also molded in an FBI roll pan to the rear metal and upgraded his truck's interior with a painted dash and billet gauges and control knobs. A Flowmaster exhaust ensures that his V-6 has a more aggressive rumble and has enough ponies to pull away from traffic.
Greetings From Canada
Jerry Da Silva lives near Niagara Falls but water isn't the only thing that's dropping in his neighborhood. Jerry's '02 Chevy Suburban has lost two inches of its stock front height and three from its rear end. A set of 22-inch Voodoo Parlor wheels dressed in Hankook tires make for a bold rolling combo, and color-matched running boards, valence, and bumper pieces make a huge improvement in style. Jerry has already bolted on a K&N intake and Power Aid throttle-body spacer, but he also plans on increasing his Chevy's performance with a set of headers, new coil packs, and performance injectors.
Alex Castillo, from Bernalillo, New Mexico, has owned his '98 Ford F-150 since he was 15 years old. Now that Alex is of legal age, you can bet that he made lots of changes to his truck over the years. An '01 front clip has been fit into place and upgraded with Street Scene grille inserts. The hood and front bumper cover are from Cervini's and the MB Motoring 20x10-inch wheels and Falken tires make for awesome modifications. Alex even dropped his Ford with a 4/5 lowering kit, which is always a foolproof way to improve the looks of any truck.
Time To Shine
Jonathan Moss, from Nashville, Tennessee, has been longing to have his '99 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD featured in Truckin' since he bought it six years ago. Since then, he has conducted a 3-inch suspension lift as well as a 3-inch body lift to jack the Ram up high into the sky. Gear Alloy 'Double Pump' 16-inch wheels serves as the rugged rolling attire while Flowtech shorty headers and a Magnaflow exhaust system help create a heavy dose of horsepower. In the near future, Jonathan plans to add an SCT tuner and Harland Sharp roller rockers into the mix.
Chris Owens has lifted his '99 Chevy Blazer 4WD six inches thanks to a kit from Superlift and further jacked his Bow Tie into the sky with a 2-inch Performance Accessories body lift. Chris' Blazer is rolling on 15-inch Pro Comp wheels and 32-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. For better function, Chris also added a Sunco roof rack and will be adding a set of PIAA off-road lights and a safari bar in the near future.
