To get your truck featured in Readers' Rides, email a high-resolution photo of your truck to John.Mata@sorc.com. Send in a front 3/4 or profile shot, and make sure it's big enough. We print at a much higher resolution than a website, which means sending links to photos posted online won't necessarily work. Images should be about three megabytes. Also, include plenty of information about yourself, your truck, and your full name. If you want to get your ride noticed by posting it on Truckin' Readers' Rides Online, go to rides.truckinweb.com. Upload as many as 20 photos of your vehicle, along with a detailed description.
Mike Lyles and his 16-year-old son have built their '02 Dodge Ram at home in their garage and has been a great learning and bonding experience. Together, father and son dropped the Ram 2/4 with McGaughy's drop spindles and a rear flip kit and have thrown on a set of 20-inch color-matched wheels to fill in the fender gap. The OEM silver paint was sanded off and Firemist Red Pearl was sprayed on in its place. Since dad had first dibs on driving the completed Ram project around, they are now building a full custom '93 S-10 for Jr.
Ray Lichtenberg, or SuperSub as he is known on Performancetrucks.net, has treated his '03 Chevy Suburban to a street treatment that will certainly raise envy amongst onlookers. For starters, Ray installed a GM Performance Parts LSX block and fitted it with go-fast goodies, which delivers 590 rear wheel hp for an ample amount of rubber roasting. Baer extreme six-piston brake calipers, cross-drilled rotors, and 22-inch SS styled wheels have taken up residence at each corner. With the looks and performance of a true Super Sport, Ray's Suburban still serves its factory given purpose of transporting the entire family unit across the country.
Bill from Performancetrucks.net serves as a forum administrator on the site, and he currently has 22,512 posts under his belt at the time of this writing. Bill is probably easier to recognize under his PT.net handle, trever1t, but his '05 GMC Sierra Z71 will no doubt blow his cover. So far, Bill has planted a Magnuson TVS supercharger under the hood and the speedy Sierra is now nitrous and methanol injected. A Finish Line transmission has found its way onto Bill's GMC and helps project the road rocket down the track at breakneck speeds (firstname.lastname@example.org is currently its best time but that will certainly shrink in the future).
Devern Matson, from Anoka, Minnesota, loves to drive his '01 Ford Lightning fast if you couldn't tell from the photo he sent in. His quickest 1/4 mile time is 12.5 and he was able to lock down such a quick time with the help of a Superchips programmer, a JDM cool air induction kit, a single blade throttle body, a four-pound lower blower pulley kit, and a Magnaflow exhaust system.
David Cach, aka 1quickRST, lives in the Bay Area of Northern California and has been tuning his '05 RST Edition Chevy Silverado to be a sheer menace on the streets. The limited production truck's 4.8L engine has been given a few performance upgrades in the way a Comp camshaft, ASP underdrive pulley, JBA headers, a Magnaflow dual exhaust system, and a True Flow cold air intake. David's Silverado puts down 320 hp as well as 300 lb-ft of torque and he says that is just the beginning for his red street rocket. Keep up the great work!
Stewart Smith, whose alter ego TXsilverado, is an obvious cry of his allegiance to his home state of Texas, as well as his project muscle truck. Stewart's '01 Chevy Silverado has been upgraded with an LS1 engine with all the necessary trimmings such as heads, cam, intake, and nitrous system. Just how much extra power did Stewart receive when all his engine mods were all wired up and bolted on? Currently, his best time is 11.5@118 on a 125 shot. So far, that is mighty fine progress, but Stewart fully intends to go even faster!
Dirty Daily Driver
Tyler Scruggs, whose Performancetrucks.net alias is dirt track racer 81, is as serious about great photography as he is with horsepower and torque. His '00 Chevy Silverado has been given the old race inspired treatment in the way of a Comps cam, LS6 heads, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold with a FAST four-barrel throttle body, and a dual 3-inch exhaust system for better engine breathing. The Chevy has been lowered 2/4 and is now a true street machine that can sneak up on any unsuspecting competitor.
High Performance Daily
Jared Barron (ws6ls1) is the proud owner of this '05 Chevy Silverado VHO (Vortec High Output) and so far, he has been able to bolt on a K&N cold air intake, cat-less dual exhaust system, and a drag reducing 4/6 McGaughy's drop kit. The Silverado is Jared's daily driver and he has big plans for it in the future including a custom Wheatley tune, which will squeeze more mpg and hp from the high performance LQ9 6.0L powerplant.
Two-toned and Blown
Chris Robinson (lownslo06), from Jackson, Mississippi, is the proud owner of this '07 Chevy Silverado LT3, and as anybody can clearly see, he just loves to drive it. With a 6.0L engine that has been upgraded with a ZO6 cam, LS6 valve springs, and a KB Racing 70mm front mount turbo complete with an intercooler, its no mystery why he has selected this road ripping truck as his daily driver.
