I have a 2002 Sport Trac that I want to convert to 4wd I have read some things on a regular Explorer w/manual tranny but nothing on a Sport Tracs w/automatic tranny. Is this possible? I know that the trucks are very similar but I know that similar does not necessarily mean the same. I can spend the entire time alotted at the car wash spraying it clean, but when i stop, the water running off the gasket leaves annoying black streaks down the side of the van. I live in Michigan and suspect that the road salt has something to do with the problem. I do a lot of driving in fields, pastures, and on minimum maintenance roads, so I also wanted a switch to run the lights. How difficult would the wiring be to wire in a set of 2 lights, and a toggle switch? There's not enough room to get it started, as it hits the CV axle to the front hub. I've seen that you have to remove the hub, yet this does not seem that it will not allow the axle to move enough to insert the ball joint. Any assistance or tips are appreciated, as I have the get the truck on the road again before Monday to get to work. I have a 99 long bed and have the chance to get a 04 dually bed cheap and want to do the swap. The main reason for this is to put monster tires under the bed but I do not know what rims will work. Will I need custom rims or will it be cheaper to swap in a different rear with 5 lugs so I have more rim choices? The truck will be 3"-4" static dropped as well. Too many questions!!!
