Are you ready for the ultimate tailgate party? This custom bed kit sports two 12-inch subs, an attractive blend of vinyl material, and an ice chest built into the bed floor.
Everybody wants to get high-quality audio performance without spending a ton of cash or using up a large amount of space in the cab. In a truck application, the space for bass is limited; and if you own a standard cab, the challenge of packing in a variety of hard-hitting audio goods gets tougher. Recently, we had an opportunity to follow the creation of a custom-ported subwoofer enclosure that was mounted in the bed of a standard-cab, late-model Chevy pickup. The crew at Audio Innovations working out of Glendora, California, crafted a custom bed kit and subwoofer enclosure to turn the bed into the ultimate tailgate party platform, and the best part is that ample space in the interior was maintained.
As if the subwoofers and custom-built bedwall and floor panels were not enough, the pros at Audio Innovations hooked up the bed with a handmade ice chest sunken into the floor.

Before we arrived at Audio Innovations, the bulkhead of the bed had already been ported for the subwoofer box and fitted with the port ring. |
To create the ultimate party scene, an opening for a built-in ice chest was cut into the bed floor using a Sawzall. |
The Rockford Fosgate amplifiers chosen to rock the jams were mounted to the cab wall. A Rockford Fosgate Power T100001 BD mono-block amplifier was chosen to run the subwoofers, while a Rockford Fosgate Power T 4004 four-channel amplifier drives the mids and the highs. |

Dimensions were measured out before beginning construction. |
Audio Innovations team member Scott tossed some MDF on the cutting table and began piecing the 'woofer puzzle together. |
One side panel was glued to the box's base panel. |

After it was glued down, it was nailed firmly into position. |
The inside of the box was sprayed with a rubberized undercoating from Wurth West. The material was used to beautify the box and to seal the corners from any potential air leaks. |
After the subwoofers were mounted, clear plexiglass was laid over the face and screwed into place. |
