Godfather Customs Tricks Out A Ford

Before: The truck owner had already made a couple of trips to Godfather Customs and purchased wheels, chrome door handles, and step bars, but it still looked too stock for our taste.
AFTER: One day worth of turning wrenches and the F-150 was ready for anything in its path.

During the past 18 months, we've shown you many different examples of how cool your truck can look doing what we consider the four basic modifications of any custom truck: lift or lowering, wheels/tires, intake, and exhaust. We've provided you with fullsize trucks, minis, and SUVs; Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, and Toyota trucks; and as you can see, the good times keep on rolling.

This month, we tackled a truck from the South and drove to Decatur, Georgia, where Godfather Customs calls home. Known for its extensive line of after-market parts, performance bolt-ons, and wheels and tires, Godfather Customs was a great place to turn a stock '06 Ford F-150 SuperCrew longbed 4WD into a real head-turner.

The formula was simple, we added a 6-inch Pro Comp lift with coilovers, 35-inch Toyo M/T tires, which were mounted onto 20-inch Bazo chrome wheels, and completed the package with a Volant air intake and a new Corsa dual exhaust system. We were amazed at the end result. If you like any of these parts and want them for your ride, then give Godfather Customs a call.

We began with the easy install, the Volant air intake. This kit features polyethylene plastic tubing, box, and a high-flow filter. The necessary mounting hardware was also included.

Jeff, the head installer at Godfather Customs, in Decatur, Georgia, first removed the air filter element, then removed the four 10mm bolts holding down the intake box to the manifold. He then removed the MAF sensor from the tube and pulled it free.

With all of the old parts out of the way, Jeff was able to set the new Volant airbox into position.
