2007 Chevy Colorado Buildup - Bolting On The Basics

Here are all the pieces to our MBRP kit. The entire system is stainless steel and both the straight-through muffler and double-wall tip are highly polished.

We sprayed the hangers and bolts with WD-40 before unbolting the exhaust behind the catalytic converter. Since this truck is an '07, it didn't have much time to rust and get stuck.

Jay used a reciprocating saw to chop the exhaust into three pieces to get it past the crossmember and axle.

Each segment was tightened with the stainless steel clamps that were included.

The MBRP kit had plenty of clearance both above the axle and behind the rear shackle. There were no clearance issues whatsoever.

The Volant kit included a large airbox that was similar to the factory piece, but gives air a straight, unobstructed path to the throttle-body.

Volant's PowerCore filter gives air a straight path to follow and can trap loads of dirt before flow is affected.

As we mentioned before, this Volant kit was for an '06 Colorado. A different MAF sensor was used in '07. This adapter from Sin Sity Kustomz let us use the MAF that came with our truck. We marked the area that had to be removed and used a Dremel to cut the rectangular opening.

After disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery, Chip unplugged the MAF and unbolted the airbox.

Here's the stock baffle that quiets the incoming rush of air. The two bolts that hold it to the cam cover were removed and it was set aside.

Foam watherstripping was applied to the passenger side of the Volant airbox to seal it against the opening in the fender.

The Volant airbox used the same mounting location and rubber isolators that were used on the factory airbox.
