2. A small pick was used to take out the cotter pin in the upper and lower ball joints so the spindle could be removed and replaced. The cotter pin on the spindle was removed with pliers as well, then the rotor and brake dust shield were unbolted from the spindle and set to the side. Once the bolts were removed from the tie rod ends and the ball joints, a few quick strikes with a hammer got the old spindle off of the suspension and into the junk pile.
