I either missed it or it was not mentioned..... What about the oil pump and recommendations? Is the motor upgraded to a high volume? what about the computer? what do you have to upgrade in the ways of a "chip" or a tuneable mangement system? I am greatful for the insight as to the parts needed. However, there are some key issues that were left out. What about the ccooling system? Electric or standard old water pump?
My 5.3 shelled out on Mother's day weekend (NICE!), and it looks as if there are tons of metallics in the oil. Is this motor even worth it? I am talking the 5.3 in general....
I had the old trusty 5.7 in my 93 burban that went for 436000 miles. I would build one of those in a heartbeat again! Is the 324-327, or for you whipper snappers, the 5.3 more reliable... so foar I am not pleased with General Motors.... I am a hardcore Chevy guy. I would rather push my Chevy as drive a Ford.
Mild 383 but with the flat top pistons, roller rockers and the 1 7/8 headers of course. Trying to drive the wild every day would be tough. The wear and tear on the trans alone would not last much less the rear end. Mild would not be much better but an easier DD i would think.
So, this may sound ignorant but only because I haven't read much about engines lately, Who builds the Coyote engine that you're talking about? I've always liked Chevy & never had any major problems with them. However, now-a-days it seems as though it comes down to personal preferences again as to whether you are getting a "good ride" or not. I really can't tell in quality anymore. It seems as though it really depends on if the vehicle was manufactured during the week vs the weekend is what is the determining factor as to whether it is going to run like a champ for years or run like a lemon from the get go.

James Wagner it ain't hating if the math support it. lets take a new 6.2L Vette engine for example makes 450 hp out of 6.2L or 72.6 HP per L of engine. Now lets take the 2013 5.0L coyote engine rated at 420hp out of a 2013 Mustang it makes 85 HP per L of engine (the boss 302 made 444 hp out of 5.0L or 88.8 hp per L)and no pushrods mean a much higher redline ,some machine shops have made the Coyote scream past the 9200 rpm range already. It is time we stop waisting our efforts on useless GM engines .30 year out dated engine technology that is not free revving, and as for reliability I am a red seal certified journeyman automotive tech and I have by far repalced more GM engines and trans than any other domestic. GM went broke for a reason there products suck balls!! And not even 50billion dollars could save their pathetic asses! and as a side note all 3 top spots at this years Pro Engine Builders Challenge were won by FORD mod motors (fattest torque cure fattest power curve) and out of much smaller motors non the less. GM's answer to building power just keep adding size regardless how inefficient it is!
I thought the Coyote engine is a Ford that comes in a Mustang.
